AFTER being inducted into British Actors' Equity in the early 1990s, I went-on to make dozens of supporting cast appearances in such TV series as "Wycliffe" (see the still above left) ~ "Dangerfield" ~ "Casualty" and "Inspector Lindley", among others. Sadly, the increasing severity of a pre-existing Dystonic-Essential Tremor condition eventually resulted in my TV and film activities drying-up altogether. Nevertheless, I have remained a fully paid-up member of Equity. Indeed, I'm on Equity's Disability Register and, therefore, available for TV and film roles depicting characters suffering from the likes of Dystonia, Parkinson's, shell-shock, brain injury or cerebral palsy. My Dystonic-Essential Tremor symptoms affect my hands, arms and head but, happily, I am still mobile; I still drive, and my distinctive "rich brown" speaking voice remains unaffected.
Until May of 2014, I thought my TV career was dead and buried, owing to the deterioration, in 1997, of the above mentioned Dystonic-Essential Tremor disability. However, I was wrong. I auditioned for, and was awarded, my first TV role in 17 years and the results were transmitted on Saturday October 18, 2014 in that evening’s episode of “Casualty” on BBC 1 television (see the middle still above and the stills below). My character's name was Timothy Blake, and Sue Haasler of PauseLiveAction gave me a very nice review ... "a shocking story line beautifully acted by Lewis Adler"
My thanks to Sue. Here's a link to her complete article:-

On May 10, 2022 I appeared in a featured role in that day's episode of "Doctors - Frequency Response" on BBC 1 TV. My character was Michael Aranssen, a former musician partially disabled by Essential Tremor, and suffering hearing problems.

AS for my radio activities (see the photo above right): from October 1981 to April 2014, under my birth name of David Lowe, I produced and presented a wide variety of radio shows for the BBC and UK Independent Local Radio. Following my departure from the BBC in April 2014, I spent three months making programmes for an 'easy listening' radio station, using the VoiceTracking ("Robojock") method used by some internet radio stations. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to utilise my extensive private production archive for these programmes and that severely limited my playlist options. Also, my Dystonic-Essential Tremor disability was, by then, deteriorating rapidly. So, in September 2015, I decided to give radio a complete break. However, a little over one year later, as an experiment, I set-up my first proper home studio, which I designed specifically to accommodate my disability. Then, after spending a few weeks learning how to use the Audacity recording computer software, at the beginning of July 2017, I began making a weekly programme as a volunteer producer-presenter, for my local community radio station Riviera FM. I continue to do so....
